Why 46 & 2
Some names are chosen for branding.
Others are chosen because they hold a truth that keeps unfolding.
46 & 2 comes from a song that quietly shaped how I understand growth, healing, and becoming ,not as something to achieve, but as something that emerges when we are willing to turn inward.
A Metaphor for Becoming
The idea behind 46 & 2 is not meant as literal science, but as metaphor.
It points to the belief that growth happens through self-examination, integration, and shedding what no longer fits. That meaningful change requires us to encounter parts of ourselves we’ve avoided, silenced, or outgrown — and to do so with curiosity rather than force.
In this sense, 46 & 2 represents a movement toward greater wholeness.
Not perfection.
Not transcendence.
But a deeper, more integrated way of being human.
The Role of Shadow and Integration
Much of the work I do in therapy mirrors this idea. Healing often involves turning toward what’s been pushed into the background; emotions, identities, needs, or truths that once felt unsafe or inconvenient. Growth doesn’t come from bypassing these parts, but from listening to them and allowing them to be integrated with compassion. As Carl Jung suggested, we don’t become whole by eliminating the shadow, we become whole by bringing it into awareness.
Why This Matters in Therapy
Many of the people I work with have spent years functioning, adapting, achieving, and holding things together. Over time, this can create a sense of internal fragmentation, a life that works on the outside, but feels disconnected on the inside. Therapy here is about slowing down enough to notice:
What’s been carried alone
What no longer fits
What wants to emerge next
46 & 2 reflects a belief that healing is not about fixing yourself, but about becoming more fully yourself.
A Quiet Influence
Music has long been one of the ways I’ve made sense of emotion, meaning, and inner movement. Over time, certain lyrics and rhythms became companions during moments of confusion, transition, and growth; returning not as noise, but as something grounding and orienting.
One line in particular has stayed with me:
“My shadow’s closer to meaning.”
That line captures much of what this work is about.
How This Shows Up in My Work
The meaning behind 46 & 2 isn’t something I impose in therapy. It simply informs how I listen, how I pace the work, and how I understand change.
Therapy here is:
Nervous-system-aware
Relational and collaborative
Oriented toward integration rather than performance
Grounded in everyday life, not abstraction
This is a space where growth is allowed to unfold; slowly, honestly, and at your own pace.
Lyrics That Inspire This Work
The song “Forty Six & 2” by TOOL has been meaningful to me in my own process and reflects the metaphor behind the name 46 & 2.
